The battle of the cola brands has had many flavours over the years, with television commercials depicting vending machines spewing cans of Coke and Pepsi at each other, ads with bottles wielding boxing gloves. This summer the stakes have been ratcheted even higher.
PepsiCo, notorious for poking fun at its bigger rival, Coca-Cola, has launched television advertisements casting Santa Claus and polar bears, classic Coke mascots, as converts to Pepsiâ€™s core cola brand.
The 60 x 60 foot living billboard is made of thousands of Fukien tea plants, which is known to absorb air pollutants. The plants are spread across the billboard surrounding the iconic curvy shape of a silver Coke bottle.
This billboard helps alleviate air pollution within its proximate areas as it can absorb a total of 46,800 pounds of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, on estimate.
Moreover this billboard makes use of recyclable materials. A total of 3,600 pots were used in the billboard, recycling old bottles of various Coca-Cola products.
It’s fine old custom – the good-natured initiation of those who cross the equatoe for the first time. In much the same spirit of good-natured fun, people everywhere respond to the fine invitation Have a “Coke”.
